Project Hope May Newsletter
Welcome to Project Hope!
Welcome to Project Hope's mailing list.
As a brief introduction, we're Project Hope, a young-adult-led organization that provides peer support and educational resources to the pediatric transplant community. We currently have an active chapter at Georgetown and are working to expand our chapters nationwide.
If you or someone you know would be interested in working with us, please don't hesitate to send them our way. We're excited that you've decided to join us on the journey!
Our organization is also supported entirely by small grants and generous donations from our community. If you're willing and able, we invite you to make a donation (tax-deductible) to Project Hope (QR code below).
Once again, we're so excited that you're joining our community, and we look forward to sharing our progress with you!
This is the first of many monthly Project Hope newsletters. We hope to send these out the first week of every month to inform this wonderful community of all the steps we are taking to ensure peer support is available everywhere for pediatric transplant patients. This will include information about events or plans the following month and recapping the previous month.
We are currently collaborating with a dedicated team to renovate and expand our website! The new site will feature a wide range of supportive tools designed to help individuals and families navigate their wellness journeys. We will also be highlighting the incredible people who make Project Hope possible, showcasing the passion and expertise of our team. Once launched, the website—and this newsletter—will be the best place to stay informed about upcoming events, programs, and the continued growth of Project Hope. More information to come soon!
Recent Victories
This past January, Samson (our organization’s founder) recently marked the 20th anniversary of his liver transplant! Samson was diagnosed with biliary atresia and transplanted at 8 months old. He continues to take immunosuppressants and get regular labs. Samson is currently a junior at Yale University studying Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry + global health. He is actively involved in transplant research, advocacy and is an avid musician.
In February, we had the privilege of partnering with Georgetown Hospital and working closely with their child life specialist, Jessica, to come together and spend time with our youth transplant group for a Valentines day get-together. Together, we created a warm, playful space where the kids could celebrate Valentine’s Day with us. The afternoon was filled with snacks, board games, laughter, and hands-on crafts—giving the children a moment of connection, creativity, and fun with our wonderful group. It was a heartwarming reminder of why we do this work and strive to continue to build towards our community!
See You In San Francisco
Project Hope will be attending the 2026 SPLIT (Society of Pediatric Liver Transplantation) conference hosted in San Francisco. It is a honor to be involved with such a incredible event for the transplant community and look forward to connecting.
